Allergies

What is it about allergies that makes them ten times worse if you attend to them? I can walk around all day with mildly itchy eyes and a tickle in my throat, but if I forget myself for a minute and rub my eyes, suddenly they are on fire and tears are streaming from them. Or if I scratch my throat (yes, I can scratch my throat -- with my tongue; don't ask) it suddenly feels like it's swollen shut and grown a fur coat. I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for this phenomenon. Does anyone know what it is?

Seasons of Love

I was doing some Saturday morning surfing and ran across this video on a blog I read. I love a cappella music -- most of the time, anyway -- and really enjoyed this. Besides that, I didn't know Jesse L. Martin could sing! I remember him from Law & Order, but I had no idea he was part of the cast of Rent. (It's dark and cozy under this rock. Thanks for asking.)

Kinda Cool YouTubery

Most of the time, I find it kind of disappointing when I'm looking for a particular tune on YouTube and have to wade through a bunch of videos of people singing in their bedrooms. Let's face it -- a lot of those folks singing in their bedrooms just aren't that good. (I sing in my bedroom, too, and trust me, it sucks.) Not so this time, though! This girl's video came up for me on MyStrandsTV, and caught my interest enough that I clicked through to YouTube to see if she had anything else up. Turns out she's quite prolific, and has some of her original tunes up, too. She has a really interesting and powerful voice (I think) and it's very cool that she does her own harmonies. Plus, she's just adorable to watch -- she looks like she's having such a great time. (If you like this, try her cover of It's Raining Men.)
