Trimming Trees

~ February 25, 2008 at 12:38 (Views: 27)

OK, I think I've about learned my lesson. Tried to take down a pie cherry tree this weekend that the birds planted several years ago and well, it's still standing but I'm just barely moving today. After several near misses by some Hugh branches coming down and just glazing me a little while I was up on the latter trying to cut off some of the bigger branches. Plus after cutting it for awhile I noticed that several of the branches have hooked their way around some power lines which increases the complexity of the situation just a bit, well that and the neighbors fence which I hit. Oh one other problem is that I'm doing all this with a handsaw, I guess it will help me build more muscle mass if I can stand to finish the job (ha!). And the music plays on.

you should just do it the old fashion way....grab an axe and start hacking at the trunk! well, it sounds easier in my head, i've never tried anything like it.

I do have an axe and I did think about it... the problem is I think if I just axe it with my luck it will hit the house or take out the neighbors fence one or both of them. So I thought I should work by cutting off some of the larger branches and work up the tree until I have it to the point I can take out the axe and be asured which way things will fall withoug all the branches grabing things as it comes down. I've already seen how that happens. The branch you cut of course has branches of it's own and it just starts clinging to other parts of the tree and you if your near it as it goes by on the way down. I just missed getting clobbered a few times last night. Finally gave up for awhile so I can recover and let the muscles rest a day are so.

Haha well next time, do some stretches before you start so you are less likely to strain any muscles! Must be a good workout though! During the summertime, I actually offer to do weeding because I get a good arm workout and a great tan while I'm at it!

I'll remember that, I'll have plenty of that to do when things start warming up outside.

When I was growing up the old lady across the street used to pay me to pull the weeds in her flower beds... that's how I got this buff body I've got now ;-) hahaha

pruning is a lot of work though. It's one of those jobs that you start and want to quit half way through, but you've got to finish otherwise it looks bad.

But falling off the latter trying to prune a tree can't make you scream uncle quicker.

OK, anyone know any good tree trimmer type people that can also remove a tree? I an thinking about topping it off about 10 feet up and putting a few bird houses on it. But in case I have trouble I might need backup. My pointer finger is still surfering the last encounter. It is starting to look infected and hurts quit a lot. Hey what is this red line on the side of my finger coming from my sore? I guess if it doesn't go any further then the bottom of my finger it's not a big deal, right?
