When you join a partyStrands party, you’re saying "I’m in da house!"

It’s easy to join a party, and even more fun if you are a member of the MyStrands, MySpace, or Last.FM communities. To join, simply send a text message to the partyStrands short code using your mobile phone!

In the US, the partyStrands short code is 81890. In Spain the short code is 5331

Every partyStrands message starts with a party code, which you can find on the party screen. The JOIN instructions change slightly for each online community. Skip ahead to find instructions for your preferred community.

MyStrands members! Link your phone to your account to make joining easy. You only need to link your phone one time!

Before the party

Go to your MyStrands web page and make sure your mobile phone number is correctly entered. Then use the LINK command to validate your number.

The LINK syntax is:

LINK MyStrandsName

At the party

After LINKing your phone, you can simply text the PartyCode to join a party. The PartyCode appears on the partyStrands display.

For example, Robble joins MyStrands from his home computer. Immediately after joining, he sends a LINK command to 81890:

Robble leaves home and goes to a party at DYNC. To join the party at DYNC Robble texts:

DYNC

Your MyStrands member profile provides information about your musical tastes. When you join, partyStrands greets you by showing your MyStrands avatar on the party screen. Your avatar also appears on the screen whenever you text the party or request artists.

MySpace members! To join a partyStrands party, text a message in the following format

PartyCode join YourNickname:ms

“YourNickname” for a MySpace member is the unique name in your MySpace URL followed by :ms. The PartyCode appears on the partyStrands display.

For example, if your MySpace URL name is sushikix, and you want to join a party called dnyc, text:

PartyCode join sushikix:ms

When you join, partyStrands greets you by displaying your MySpace profile avatar on the party screen. And, if you have listed the music you like on your MySpace page, partyStrands considers your taste as it builds the play list for the party. partyStrands also displays your name and avatar when you send messages to the party or request artists.

Last.FM users! To join a partyStrands party, text a message in the following format:

PartyCode join YourNickname:fm

“YourNickname” for a Last.FM member is your Last.FM profile name, followed by :fm. The PartyCode appears on the partyStrands display.

For example, if your Last.FM profile name is AllanB, and you want to join a party called dnyc, text:

PartyCode join allanB:fm

When you join, partyStrands will use your Last.FM profile name and to greet you on the party screen. And partyStrands will consider your Last.FM play history as it builds the play list for the party. Your avatar and name will appear on the screen any time you send messages to partyStrands or request artists.

To join a partyStrands party, text a message in the following format:

PartyCode join YourNickname

“YourNickname” will be shown on the party screen. Pick a name that you like, up to 12 characters long. Use the PartyCode that appears on the partyStrands display.

For example, to join as “partyDude” at a party called dnyc, text:

Dnyc join partydude

After you join the party, partyStrands will greet you on the party screen using the name you selected, and a randomly assigned avatar. Later, when you add artists or send messages to partyStrands, your nickname and avatar will appear on the party display alongside your entry.

NOTE: If you have already LINKed your phone at MyStrands, and you use your MyStrands user name, this command will join you as a MyStrands member. If you don’t use you MyStrands user name, this command joins you as an unaffiliated member.

Send a text message to the party and start party-wide interactions!

To send a partyStrands message, send your text message to the partyStrands short code!

The format is simple:

PartyCode TEXT your message

For example:

Dnyc text hey babyjane lemme buy you a drink

SHORTCUT! If you’ve joined a party, you can simply send the message without the PartyCode or the “Text” command. For example:

Hey babyjane, lemme buy you a drink

Your message will appear on the party screen for all to see. Who knows where it will lead!

Let the party know which artists you like, and get that artist’s tunes into the music mix.

To add an artist, send a text message to the partyStrands short code!

The format is simple:

PartyCode ARTIST artist name

For example:

Dnyc artist Metallica

SHORTCUT! If you’ve joined a party, you can simply send the ARTIST instruction without the PartyCode. For example:

Artist Metallica

Either message adds Metallica to the music at the Dnyc party. If the Dnyc music library includes Metallica tracks, they will be added to the party play stream. If not, artists related to Metallica will be played.

Join with others at the party to vote for your favorites, whatever they may be.

To vote, send a text message to the partyStrands short code!

The format is simple:

PartyCode VOTE a, b, or c

For example:

Dnyc vote c

SHORTCUT! If you’ve joined a party, you can simply send the VOTE instruction without the PartyCode. For example:

Vote c

Voting is another way to be involved at the club—talk your friends into voting, set up friendly rivalries, get all your friends involved. It all just adds to the fun.
