~ January 19, 2007 at 21:46 (Views: 9 )

Rescue Me is a critically praised American television drama and dark comedy that premiered on the FX Network in 2004. It is produced by the Cloudland Company, Apostle, DreamWorks Television and Sony Pictures Television. Rescue Me focuses mainly on the professional and personal lives of New York City firefighters after the trauma of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The show stars Denis Leary, who plays the role of New York City firefighter, Tommy Gavin, a character whose life is full of torment and chaos.

Tommy has to struggle with the loss of his cousin, and best friend, Jimmy Keefe, who died on September 11th, 2001 and frequently visits Tommy in visions. In the pilot episode, Tommy and his wife have already separated and Tommy moved across the street. He is ill-tempered, hypocritical, manipulative, and a relapsed alcoholic. Although he is painted as a horrible human being, his character is redeemed through his incredible career as a firefighter. He has also realized how much he has contributed to the breakup of his family and constantly struggles to reconcile with them. He loves his kids very much and desires to get back together with his wife; however, despite slowly making steps toward his redemption, tragedy always seems to be right around the corner.

Plaid - Eyen

~ January 19, 2007 at 21:38 (Views: 42 )

Plaid is a British electronic music duo featuring Andy Turner & Ed Handley, taking their name from the different interweaving threads of plaid cloth. They are former members of The Black Dog and used many other names, such as Atypic (Andrew Turner) and Balil (Ed Handley), before settling on Plaid. They have collaborated with female singers Mara Carlyle, Nicolette and Björk, and have released records on the labels Clear, Peacefrog, Black Dog Productions, and Warp Records.

Aside from their own material, Plaid have done extensive remix work for many other artists, including Red Snapper, Björk, Goldfrapp, and The Irresistible Force. Parts in the Post (2003) contains just a handful of Plaid's remix work to date.

Plaid often works collaboratively with video artist Bob Jaroc, whose animations often accompanied the music during live performences. They have developed a DVD consisting of new material and video artwork to accompany the music, entitled Greedy Baby. The project was completed on July 20 2005, and was first shown at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the South Bank Centre, and subsequently at the BFI Imax cinema in Waterloo, London. Greedy Baby was released on DVD from Warp Records on June 26, 2006.

Dexter - Best TV show ever

~ January 19, 2007 at 21:36 (Views: 21 )

Orphaned at the age of three and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter was adopted by a Miami police officer who recognized his homicidal tendencies and taught his son to channel his gruesome passion for human dissection in a "constructive" way—by killing only heinous criminals who have slipped through the cracks of justice. A respected forensic expert and a perfect gentleman with a soft spot for children, Dexter is hard not to like. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate normal emotions and to keep up appearances as a caring, socially-responsible human being.

Renewal Opens Up Heroes

~ January 19, 2007 at 21:33 (Views: 10 )

Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of NBC's hit series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the network's announcement of a renewal for a full second season allows the writers to explore more story possibilities. "In network TV you never take these things for granted," Kring said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 17. "And while we're clearly a success, these things are always fabulous. And I think how early it was done is just a huge show of support for the show."
