Only real men cry.

~ January 25, 2008 at 11:02 (Views: 35 )

I'm taking a course in Human Sexuality to fullfill my baccore and I am learning so many things I never thought I would have asked about! But it's not what you think.
Yesterday we did a poll in the classroom on who we thought were more romantic-men or women. Most everyone opted for the females but it turns out that MEN are actually more romantic then women.
Men fall in love easier, harder and faster. They are less likely to end the relationship and they are the ones who actually suffer more after a break up. Why is this? Women rely on their girlfriends for emotional support. Men rely on their girlfriends for emotional support. So if the couple breaks up, the woman has a whole network of friends to help her recover while the man suffers though it alone, since men aren't prone to talking to other men about relationships.
What does this mean to me?
Open up, guys!

Heath Ledger

He was an amazing actor, and an amazing person. I first feel in love with him in Ten Things I Hate About you, when he was playing the bad boy character us good girls are so alarmingly attracted to. Death at the age of 28 is much too young. Why? We might never know, since the media twists everything up. Rest in peace, Patrick.

Women Oppression

~ January 18, 2008 at 12:14 (Views: 32 )

SO this term I am taking a women's studies course and WOW it makes me so uneasy. Not only do I feel as if I am being brain-washed, I am skeptical about everything they say. They talk about the ISM systems, sexism (of course), ageism, looksism, etc. and how we are all targets or nontargets, whether we realize it or not. Personally, I don't feel oppressed because women athletes are less publized than men athletes. I DON'T feel victimized because MANkind isn't spelled WOmankind.
BUT the scary thing it, I think it IS leaking into my thoughts. I was interested in doing an overseas internship over the summer, and the second I presented the idea to my boyfriend, he was overwhelming against it. He said I would have to be careful because I am a woman, and therefore I would not have as much fun.
First thing that popped into my head? HOW DARE HIM FOR OPPRESSING ME!!!
Please help me reverse my new mindset so that my relationship can survive. UGH.

I don't know how to cook.
I only know how to scramble eggs, utilize the microwave, and boil broccoli. And make ramen of course, which I almost never do since it's just starch and so high in sodium. WHY, might you ask, don't I know how? HOW, you're probably wondering, have I survived on my own since high school?
I don't know. Cooking never really sparked my interest...and the few simple recipes I've tried never quite turned out like I had hoped.
My roommate doesn't know how to cook, either. So our fridge is stocked with fruit, cheeses, yogurt, milk, eggs, broccoli, salad, and frozen chicken breasts (thanks to my george foreman, I can eat meat). Our cabinets are stuffed with almonds, granola bars, wheat bagels, Special K, oatmeal, dried fruit mixes, etc. And I have a bag of almond M&Ms in my room, shhhh. Those are amazing. My roommate told me the other day that since we've moved in together, she's lost ten pounds just because I never have any junk food laying around and I don't cook either. I feel kinda bad for her.
My dad has tried multiple times to teach me how to stir fry, but I never learn. I just stare at the oil, bubbling and crackling and threatening to fly out and burn me. I scoot away when he starts tossing in peppers and meat and they pop and sizzle and the whole kitchen fills up with aroma. It's really scary to watch. I'd rather pay a few bucks for chinese take out.
So don't ever come over if you are hungry and want to have anything other than breakfast or snacks. At least I've pretty much mastered the art of modifying all my orders when I eat out so that I can stay my ideal weight!

Any bald men out there?

~ January 12, 2008 at 18:52 (Views: 60 )

So when I got out from the shower this morning, I noticed a strange yellow gadget sitting on the bathroom countertop. At first it kind of reminded me of a plastic toy car, but only with a razor attached to the bumper. I picked it up and snorted when I realized it was a special razor my boyfriend probably just bought to shave his head with. He had always kept these little yellow bottles of shaving cream around his bathroom, but I discovered today that they were uniquely designed for shaving heads-not just the face, but the whole entire head. And the car/razor is made by the same brand. Kinda cool, huh? The brand is called HeadBlade and I just think it's the funniest thing, but practical in a sense. Check them out at www.headblade.com.

I hope the pictures show up. If you crave a smoother, shinier baldness, or you think you would look sexier with a bald head, or if you have a receding hairline and think it's time to shave it all off...this might be the product for you. I know my boyfriend is a big fan.....and he has good taste! :-)

New Clubs in Corvallis.

We desperately need them. You can only go to Platinum so many times and still have fun. I'm not saying it's a lame place or anything, but seeing the same ppl and being at the same place every thursday/weekend gets old quick. REALLY QUICK for a city girl like me!!It's my first year in cowtown since I'm a transfer student. Any suggestions for a change of scenery?!
