She is no Grace Slick but she does a fine job on one of my all time favorites.

By Howie Day
Some guy serenaded me with this song and a guitar years ago and I've fallen in love with it every since (but unfortunately not to the boy). Everytime I hear it on the radio I'll turn it up loud and sing along! It never gets old.

This is a no brainer

For me it is Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. Why? I don't know. Except that it was one of those songs that I could never hear enough when I was young and even as an adult when I hear it I think "Awesone song!"

In a wierd way this song marks the beginning my emotional life and would be a fitting swan song.

Don't Stop Believin'

Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin
Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight peopleD

The Last song? Hmm...

I can't think of one right off hand, but here's a favorite of Hula dancers that might fit the bill.

He Aloha Mele (Iva Kinimaka)

He aloha mele, pretty hoku
Sending down a special little twinkle
For your lovely brown eyes
Pretty lovely brown eyes
In the still of the night all the stars
Are shining bright for your brown eyes

He aloha mele lohe i ka makani
Gentle breeze whispering haunting memories to you softly
Whisper to you softly
Hear the winds through the trees
Whisper sweet harmonies yo you softly

Chorus:
With the grace of her hands
She can tell you that a star only glitters
At the setting of the sunset
With the grace of her hands
She can tell you that the wind only blows
Where no mountain side is there to touch her

Now there's the sun and the moon talking stories
Telling tales about a new day
It's gonna be a nice day

Now the moon shines bright and the sun will
Rise again to start a new day

Thunder Road by The Boss

I love Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen. Look at this fantastic amateur performance!

impossible!

~ May 10, 2007 at 20:11 by wendiwho (Views: 92 )

My "favorites" change from day to day! If I'm driving down an open road on a hot summer day, I'll crank up Smooth (Napster) by Santana; if I'm sitting home alone on a Friday night, I'll bring up Romeo and Juliet (Napster) by Dire Straits. And for a fourth of July party, bring on the oldies: Room to Move (Napster) by John Mayall, or Fun, Fun, Fun (Napster) by the Beach Boys. Favorites are many and various!

But a secondary, interesting question is: What song best represents who you are? Put a bit morbidly, what would you want played at your memorial service?

Yes, this song has it all.

Backfield In Motion on Good Guys Only Win In The Movies by Mel & Tim

http://free.napster.com/player/tracks/19711070

Backfield in motion, yeah,
I'm gonna have to penalize you
Backfield in motion, baby,
You know that's against the rules.
Off sides and holdin', yeah,
You ought to be ashamed of yourself baby
Off sides and holdin' yeah,
Holdin' on to someone else
You know you're cheatin' baby,
Fakin' the bout
You know you're balkin', baby,
(oh yeah) strike three you're out
And I caught you with
Backfield in motion, yeah,
I'm gonna have to penalize you
Backfield in motion, baby,
You know that's against the rules.

First down you start cheatin' on me
Second down, I was too blind to see
Third down, you know I love you so
Fourth down, baby I got to let you go,
'Cos I caught you with your
Backfield in motion, yeah,
I'm gonna have to penalize you
Backfield in motion, baby,
You know that's against the rules.
Now you will see, ah yeah, just how I felt
You beat me to the punch honey,
But you hit me below the belt
And I caught you with your
Backfield in motion, yeah,
I'm gonna have to penalize you
Backfield in motion, baby,
You know that's against the rules.
Backfield in motion, backfield in motion...
Backfield in motion, backfield in motion...
