partyStrands in the news

~ January 22, 2007 at 20:44 by wendiwho (Views: 0 )

Here's an article that does a pretty good job of describing how partyStrands works in the club scene:

Helping you join the party

A few clarifications: users who join using a MySpace alias don't get links to their MySpace page on the club's party display--but they do get to see their MySpace avatar. Facebook is not yet supported, but Last.FM is.

Also, if a person wants to join using their MySpace info, they must have a public MySpace page, an use the unique name that appears in their MySpace URL

partyStrands of one = personal radio!

~ January 10, 2007 at 0:30 by wendiwho (Views: 0 )

One hidden asset of partyStrands is that it's a great way for MyStrands members to create a "personal radio" that starts with a particular artist (to set a musical mood) and then provides a music stream from a local music library.

To run a personal radio through partyStrands, choose the partyStrands option from the MyStrands menu and then set the starting artist that best matches the type of music you're in the mood for. If you'll be using your computer for other activities, select "Window Mode" as the screen for showing the party display. (This lets you minimize partyStrands.) Press "Start the party" and your personal radio stream will begin.

If you want to aim the stream toward a different mood or genre, open the partyStrands host interface, select the music tab, and add a track or two to the play stream. Those tracks will gradually move the music in a new direction.

A bonus feature is that when you decide to end your "partyStrands of one" you'll have a playlist in iTunes or WMP that lists all the tracks you played, so you can enjoy it again.
