The Badfish Band and the Manamals are playing tomorrow night at the Peacock.

Two very danceable bands.... come out and shake your bon bon!

Block 15

~ March 11, 2008 at 9:27 by barwench (Views: 31 )

Barwench sez TWO PINTS UP!

Block 15 is located downtown CorVegas in the original 15th Block of Marysville (aka Corvallis).
Whats different about this pub is that the owners are LOCAL (go Local!) and all the beer is brewed on site. How much fresher can you get? The food is really good and you can join the Mug Club and get beer discounts all year long. As of this posting , Block 15 has not been open more than 2 weeks so the newness has not worn off. That means everyone and their granny are there checking out the new digs so expect to wait. But for beer battered fries? This bar wench will wait.

Block 15 is a restaurant which means kid friendly until 9pm or so. Tables come with chalk so you can draw right on the table surface while you wait. The kids in all of us love that!

McMenamins

~ January 16, 2008 at 13:17 by jrogers (Views: 36 )

I'm a big fan of McMenamins... ALL OF THEM! There is the newer trendy/nice looking one on Monroe, and then there is the older one down on 3rd. The Bar is more comfortable at Monroe, but the one on 3rd has a cooler atmosphere. Even equipped with a wood stove for the cold days.

And can I recommend a Rubinator to drink? Best beer they have, in my opinoin.

Cheers!
John

BENTO

~ December 25, 2007 at 19:49 by babyshoes (Views: 50 )

All this talk about restaurants forces me to remind everyone that the best restaurant in town is a hole-in-the-wall BENTO shack on 14th and Monroe. Seriously, it's just a dude and his wife who are there all the time and make the greatest food. Portions are enormous for the price, and best of all, I'm such a regular that I don't even have to tell him what I want for lunch anymore. Three cheers for small business!

Vietnameese Food

Anyone been to the new Vietnameese resturant near Winco? I for get the name of it but it is AWESOME! Finally some good grub!

Where the locals go...

~ August 9, 2007 at 16:59 by chongita (Views: 61 )

Sometimes it's just nice to get out and have a few drinks after work. However when school is back in, it is next to impossible to get your relax on when you have a wild "21-er" going on and on about how much they can drink. (Meanwhile his fly is open and he is drooling)
Well, locals recomend that you check out the bars with a built in filter system called CASH ONLY. It sounds inconvenient but with a little forthought you can get that mellow vibe and keep your shoes vomit free.

Where might this bar nirvana be?
~ Squirrels Tavern is downtown ...HD TV, live music on Saturday nights, pool tabes, pinball and MS PACMAN!!!!!
~Suds and Suds is on Kings nextdoor to Woodstocks. There is no sign so you gotta be in the know. Suds had 35 taps! (OMG!)

~Both bars are beer and wine only so save your Long Island jonze for the Peacock

Iovino's

~ February 7, 2007 at 1:48 by suebee3 (Views: 194 )

Well Iovino's has moved into the new riverfront multistory building. The one with the very spendy condos for sale.

We went last Saturday night without reservations. The inside is unique with four levels of seating. Not so great if you are a server but nice for people watching. Since dinner took 3 1/2 hours, we did alot of people watching.

Once they get the kinks worked out, I think the service and food will be very good. They make fantastic drinks.

Skip the bread and the chocolate mouse. The ravioli is always very good.

Soup Shop on Monroe

~ January 24, 2007 at 22:54 by slick50 (Views: 83 )

My wife and I recently visited the Soup Shop on Monroe next to campus, it was pretty good! All soups come with dipping bread. I'd write more but I'm a programmer not a writer.

Natalia and Christoforo's

~ May 23, 2006 at 1:18 by little_mary1 (Views: 62 )

Okay, if you haven't check them out, you should. They are an Italian/European meat and cheese deli. However, one can go in and get a sub too! Prochutto instead of ham, provolone instead of American, Calamata olives instead of Black and Balsamis instead of apple Cider vinegar. Down town and walking distance from the office. MMMMMMMmmmmm!

Very nice Italian wine selection for when you tire of only being able to buy Oregon wines. I wonder how much the Oregon vinters pay annually to keep up the front that Oregon wine is good. BTW Charles Shaw is NOT good wine! It is good $3 wine, big difference!
