Bad 80's hair. Bad 80's actors.... mmmmmmmmmemories.....
The first record I ever owned was Reckless by Bryan Adams. Different tracks have different memories attached to them for me, but two notes of Heaven can reliably transport me back to the junior high gym -- smoke machine going full blast, of course. (What was the stuff they put in there? It smelled like a cross between baby powder and burnt sugar. Probably really great to breathe, eh?)
So apparently I need to be hanging out with my jar of peanut butter at the movies in order to find the love of my life... why has no one told me this!
I seem to have a lot of MTV-related memories! That's probably because my mother got a job when I was in junior high, so I got to be home alone for the first time -- but with the directive to not "just spend the whole afternoon watching TV." Naturally, I did what any 12 or 13 year old would do upon hearing that: I turned the television on the instant I walked in the door from school and only turned it off when I heard my mother pull in the driveway.
I was poking around today looking for something else and found this video, which was on heavy rotation for the beginning of my MTV addiction. (Embedding was disabled, so hopefully the link will work.)
Glenn Frey -- Smuggler's Blues
I'm really dating myself with this one. But it's still funny...
