iPod Touch not syncing

~ 4 days ago by junj0u (Views: 44 )

I just got an iPod Touch yesterday, and now when I try to sync it with MyStrands, it says "no iPod recognized, plug in your iPod and try again" or something to that effect. What do I need to do to fix this?

When will my music be added to MyStrands?

~ March 30, 2008 at 5:19 by andygrant (Views: 93 )

I uploaded my album onto indie.mystrands over two months ago, but it's still saying 'waiting to be uploaded to mystrands'. Have I done something wrong, or does it normally take weeks before it's added?

Tip of the Week: Uploading Music

~ February 26, 2008 at 11:22 by Muzika (Views: 138 )

**NOTE: Uploading music at MyStrands is only available to Indie artists through indie.mystrands.com, so they can promote their music and get heard**

While we’re on the topic of independent artists and Indie.MyStrands.com, I think we should take a minute to talk about how easy it is to upload your music to MyStrands so everyone in the world can hear your sounds…

So you went to indie.mystrands.com, registered for the site, received the confirmation e-mail and clicked the link to activate your account – now what?! Well, it’s simple. You’ll be guided through a process of submitting some info about yourself as an artist (name, biography, musical influences, profile pic, etc.), and when you’re done with that its onto the fun part – THE MUSIC!

Once you are done completing the basic information, you will come to a screen like this:

From here you can choose to either upload individual tracks, or you can upload a full album (EITHER WAY, be sure to turn your pop-up blocker OFF... you will need pop-ups for this step. This is crucial!)

If you choose to upload a single track, it will look like this:

If you want MyStrands users to be able to download your tracks, simply check the "Download" box (after reading the Terms & Conditions, of course)
... I know it's very similar, but if you choose to upload an album it will look like this:

Something to take note of when you're uploading music: sometimes it can take a while. If your files are large it will take a moment for them to upload to our servers, and sometimes it will take some time (days in some cases :-/) for our servers to display your info on MyStrands.com - so please be patient with the process.

And from then on, when you visit indie.mystrands.com you will see something like this:

Use the tabs on the top of the page to navigate your account, edit your info, and upload more songs to your page and your albums.

Hope this helps - and as always, if you have any questions just ask them in the MyStrands Forum!

Tip of the Week: Promote Indie Artists

~ February 20, 2008 at 13:23 by Muzika (Views: 244 )

Got a friend with a band? Or maybe you've got one of you own and are looking for some airtime... either way, Indie.MyStrands.com is the site, and you are the person to make it happen!

MyStrands a great place to learn about music you might not have otherwise known about... we all already know that; it's why we're here isn't it?!?! But it’s also a good jumping off point to get your band (or your friend’s, cousin’s, mother’s, brother’s, etc.) heard by the world.... and best of all it's free! Go to indie.mystrands.com, register for the site with your e-mail address, wait for the e-mail to show up in your inbox, and start promoting!

Here is a screen shot of the first page of the registration:

From there you can upload photos of the band, create artist bios (if you have more than one band you can create multiple entries too!), upload albums and tracks. Once you complete the sign-up process and upload tracks, your songs will be played through the Personalized Indie Radio and heard by MyStrands users around the world....

Tip of the Week: Music by Genre!

~ February 12, 2008 at 14:01 by Muzika (Views: 142 )

I know, I know. This is really simple okay – but I was so caught up getting recommendations that I liked listening to that I didn’t bother searching for myself until now. Under the MUSIC tab on your MyStrands home page go to “Browse” (mystrands.com/browse) and you can look at various genres of music.

Artists are sorted alphabetically, and let me warn you… there are lots of them! So if you plan on just browsing, you might want to call your appointment and push them back a couple of hours. OR, if you know the name of the artist, song, or album you are looking for, just search! (Pic below)

Oh, and one more thing: this works with MyStrands.tv too! Scroll to the bottom of the TV window and click on any genre you want to listen to. Within seconds you should see streaming videos of artists, interviews, concerts, and music videos from that genre.

Happy listening!

Tip of the Week: Sharing with Friends

~ February 6, 2008 at 14:52 by Muzika (Views: 142 )

Let’s not be selfish, alright? When you’ve got something good you should share it!

Whether it is a specific artist’s page, a journal post you’ve seen or authored, or a party someone is hosting through partyStrands, it’s uber easy to instantly send them a link.
Click on either “Share with a friend” or “Recommend to a friend” in the upper right hand corner of whichever MyStrands page you are looking at (just below your avatar), and BLAM! Add recipients directly from your e-mail account, type in individual e-mail addresses (separated by commas of course), or send it to one of your MyStrands contacts. To make them feel extra special, include a personalized message in the last box on the screen and click SEND!

Instantly they will receive a message via MyStrands message or e-mail with the invite... so share the wealth, it's good for you!

Tip of the Week: RSS FEEDS

~ January 29, 2008 at 10:56 by Muzika (Views: 110 )

So you saw something you liked on MyStrands and now you want to stay in the know when things change. Oh what to do, what to do… well, the answer is simple: RSS! RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is a web-feed (or “channel”) to a web address.

Anytime you see the RSS logo (the orange square with white curved lines on it), click it and save it to your bookmarks – that way you can always have access to the information without having to login to the page. I think this is a feature that is WAY under utilized, so I’ll give you an example: One day you click on my profile and like some journals that I had written… well, click on the nearby RSS button and it will load it to your bookmarks. Then when you are sitting at your computer at work you can mouse over your bookmarks and see a drop down menu of my 5 most recent journal entries.

And as always, if you see something you like, use the links below and spread the word:
Digg, Facebook, and De.licio.us

Tip of the Week: Ban Artists!

~ January 22, 2008 at 11:59 by Muzika (Views: 134 )

So you hate Britney Spears? Maybe you don’t like 50 Cent or Eminem. Whoever the artist is that you don’t like, there’s a way that you can avoid having them recommended to you again (even if they fit into a genre that you like getting recommendations from).

From your MyStrands homepage, click on “My Recommendations” just below the MyStrands Tab. On the right hand side of the page you can review your EXILE LIST by clicking on the “Review your Exile List" link. From there you can see the artists and albums on your Exile List, add or remove them. Now you can listen to The Game without hearing 50 Cent, Christina without Britney, or Common without Mos Def.

Don't see anything on the Exile List? Go to your personal recommendations and use the buttons below each recommendation to tell us you either know it or don't like it. You can do this for song, artists, or complete albums (Don't know what a song sounds like? Click on the play button for a sample).

Now you can listen to music and get recommendations without having to manually skip the content you don't like - we'll do the work for you!
