breaking news!

~ September 15, 2006 at 15:21 (Views: 40 )

Well, it probably isn't to most people... but Beck has a new album out and to promote it he's going on a mini tour to Nashville, TN, Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON, New York, NY and Upper Darby, PA (wherever that is).

I'm really hoping the tickets appear on ticketbin soon (I'm getting good at this marketing crap aren't I), when they do they'll be here:

Beck concert tickets

Also I spotted that "The Mummy 3" will be in production soon. I really liked the first two films even though I opted to travel the world rather than work in the props department for "The Mummy Returns" :-) some people still tell me I was stupid! From one of my favourite blogs: I Watch Stuff!

barenaked ladies

If only I was living in Canada, people wouldn't look at me with a strange look when I said I really liked Barenaked Ladies. They're on tour again soon and according to Pollstar they've also got a new album out... Barenaked Ladies Are Me

It all sounds good to me, can't wait to get my hands on those remixable tracks!

And, of course, you can buy Barenaked Ladies tickets at my very own store :-)

strangest band name?

~ September 12, 2006 at 10:53 (Views: 76 )

It turns out that two members of Blink 182 have got together and formed a new band called (+44) or "plus forty four" named after the international dialling code for the UK. (from Pollstar)

With bands using the unusual keyboard characters as part of their names it's not going to be long before we get children running around with @, *, !, £, # or numbers in their names as well. It'll probably be one of those myspace "celebrities" who first call their child P@t# or something...

wireless works again!

~ September 10, 2006 at 17:55 (Views: 38 )

hooray! I finally sorted out a new broadband package with a wireless modem thing from BT and it worked straight away - so I'm back on the wireless network.

Feeling a bit rough today, didn't get home till about 5am and then was up at 10 to go and see work colleagues run a 10km race... didn't get there in time for the race, but a nice pub lunch afterwards. Not a bad afternoon in the end.

Now I've just got to try and not fall asleep before Lost is on and finish off a bit of work - another exciting Sunday!

Portishead are rocking me this afternoon - great music but will they ever get round to releasing a new album?

Time to get some food I think... not sure what yet but Pizza is calling me!

what to do while you're waiting for other people

~ September 6, 2006 at 15:41 (Views: 76 )

So we've got a huge new site going live in a few minutes (at work) ... supposedly! Somehow the site has broken and nothing is happening, I'm trying to find someone with some inspirational msuic I can listen to :-)

The Polyphonic Spree seem to be the best of the list so far, always good but I wish I had some Sigur Ros with me.

I'm never sure how much I should mention on blogs about work, suffice to say it's the biggest online grocery shop in the world and it's completely broken while the new site is being installed. I'm sure everyone will love it once it's gone live.

My own store ticketbin is going well though, a few more hits recently but not many more sales... I really need to push Shakira tickets, as they seem to be the most popular at the moment: buy shakira tickets here (if you want, but it would be nice!)

Current favourite song: Hurt on American IV: The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. I can't believe it's used on a Nike advert though :-(

Another sunday afternoon

~ September 3, 2006 at 14:12 (Views: 72 )

The perfect song for today isn't on here: Sunday, Sunday by Blur

Does anyone ever do anything important on Sundays? Well I'm pootling around, doing a bit of work and thought it's about time to claim this blog on Technorati, so:

Technorati Profile

Hopefully that should work!

Otherwise there's not much happening, no major news, sorry!

Friday...

~ September 1, 2006 at 16:28 (Views: 1 )

So it's finally the weekend and only 1.5hours of work to go. Final Countdown, The starts now!

My plans for the weekend involve alcohol, a bit of work (yawn), more alcohol, sleep, food and sleep... nothing too exciting, just the usual weekend in small town, not quite close enough to London but not far enough away either UK.

Should be good :-)

Ergh

~ August 31, 2006 at 10:37 (Views: 12 )

After a nice meal and lots of drinks last night, I'm not feeling great this morning... So my hangover cure so far has consisted of: 2 sausages, 2 hash browns, water and some dance/house music to try and liven me up. Everyone else at work are working hard so at least I'm not being disturbed!

One of the albums I've been listening to a lot in the car, particularly good this morning, is "Twelve Steps and Home, by The Feeling" there doesn't seem to be a link on here yet but it's only a matter of time - it's a great album, very summery and I'm just sad I discovered so late in the season.

So far my myspace attempts at marketing haven't worked very well - I need to put in more time and effort to get the results and I don't think I can be bothered. If anyone has any good ideas I'd like to hear them! :-)

Back to the water... and other office neccesities

So I finally got round to...

~ August 29, 2006 at 12:15 (Views: 36 )

putting MyStrands on my work PC! But we're not allowed to store mp3s so my limited work CD collection may be adding a slight bias to my recent tracks.

I'm listening to a lot of Future Sound of London at the moment, perfect work/background music, even if the Lifeforms album is a bit creepy at times...

In other news, I've also put my concert and theatre ticket site on myspace - it's not something I feel good about but I thought I'd see if it gives it a slight sales push. I don't really know why anyone would want a website as a myspace friend :-) ticketbin on myspace

I love this album: The Kooks

(edit: Just realised how disjointed my posts are, I'll try harder next time!)

What's new...

~ August 27, 2006 at 14:46 (Views: 32 )

So I guess I need to write something here, give it a go, why not?

I've recently bought a few albums that I'd missed over the last few months - Keane, The Feeling, Modest Mouse, Snow Patrol... so my current playlist is getting a bit biased. So far my favourite is Snow Patrol and The Feeling, very nice for singing along to in the car, which is pretty much all you can ask.

Just spotted the lead singer of Keane has gone into rehab (Keane Singer In Rehab - pollstar) and cancelled their US tour. Annoying as I was hoping to sell a few tickets for that!

My favourite upbeat song at the moment: Call Me What You Like (if you like rock-n-roll) by Puffy AmiYumi
