Tony Bennett

~ October 12, 2006 at 15:00 (Views: 55 )

The legend that is Tony Bennett is celebrating his 80th birthday in November, from Pollstar:

Music legend Tony Bennett will turn 80 next month, and he's celebrating the milestone in style with a concert featuring a host of musical guests and some famous Hollywood faces.

See him in Vegas! Or the Hard Rock in Hollywood!

As mentioned in a previous post - I've just started making a new blog about language matters, and the layout is complete - just looking for a bit of a makeover to boost the style:

Linguism.co.uk - Language in a word

It's a tacky byline, if you think of anything better, let me know - although no one really adds comments on here, it's worth asking!

Everyone should be listening to The Kooks today, join me in doing little dances at my desk and getting funny looks from the rest of the office.

cheaper by car?

~ October 11, 2006 at 11:18 (Views: 26 )

I'm working on a new site with a friend, we've got the design, just finding a decent forum to go on there as well...

It's a rant about the state of public transport in the UK - mostly written by my friend (although the content isn't up yet)... I think it's looking pretty damn good:

Cheaper by car

I also have another project in the works for a language blog, written by my Dad (I'm gradually turning him into a nerd) who is quite an expert on the subject, I'll put the link on here when I've got round to teaching him how to use wordpress. The name for the site is Linguism, not sure if it's catchy enough?

5 of the best pop songs:

Dont Stop Movin
Can't Get You Out Of My Mind

Is this exciting news?

~ October 3, 2006 at 21:30 (Views: 29 )

So Bob Seger is back on tour... I don't know much about his music but it seems as though he's quite popular! Anyway, as you might have guessed this is really just a blatant plug for ticketbin - Get tickets for Bob Seger here!

Now, I've been listening to a bit of Sammy Davis Jr. - is it just me or is he the best Rat Pack member? I might be biased from watching Cannonball Run several hundred times when I was younger...

busy busy

~ September 30, 2006 at 9:46 (Views: 54 )

I've been a bit slack at posting this week, work's been busy, outside work has been busy and then on Thursday night there was a free food, free drink party :-) obviously I couldn't miss that!

I've been listening to the new Scissor Sisters album which is pretty good. The best tracks are the upbeat disco tunes so I don't think it's something I'm going to listen to a lot while I'm working - good in the car though.

Lost season 2 finished this week, it's so good I'll be watching season 3 on downloads - I've got to find out what happens!

Somewhere over the rainbow

~ September 22, 2006 at 15:23 (Views: 164 )

I've just been sent this and it's so good I had to share...

He's a big fella, but what a great song.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

it's not music related but...

~ September 22, 2006 at 12:34 (Views: 31 )

One of my websites has got a new paying customer! Very good news for me.

It's a bit controversial but something that's necessary - clinical trials. With a few other people I run a UK based clinical trials registration site, where volunteers can sign up and get information on medical trials happening around the country. MedTrials

Also, everyone at work is talking about Numberwang! A fake daytime quiz from a sketch show... it's funny :-) Numberwang!

Favourite band to listen to in my car this week: The Go! Team

Richard Hammond in hospital

~ September 21, 2006 at 10:27 (Views: 43 )

I've just got to work and seen that Richard Hammond from Top Gear is in hospital after a jet car crash at nearly 300mph - bbc news

Top Gear is one of the few tv programmes I actually make a note to turn the tv on for, even though I'm not a big car fanatic. I hope he gets through this.

monday morning

~ September 18, 2006 at 9:15 (Views: 20 )

For some reason I just woke up early, so I'm sitting in the office all alone... such a bad idea to get to work at this time! Anyway, the weekend was good - out in Brixton, London at a bar called Living. The music was 80s/90s dance stuff so everyone was on the dancefloor after a couple of cocktails.

So sunday was spent not doing much and watching tv.

I can't get the song "Don't feel like dancing" by Scissor Sisters out of my head, not sure if that's a good thing but it's been playing everywhere over here and I don't know if it's even out yet!

The Fratellis

~ September 16, 2006 at 13:17 (Views: 42 )

So I wasn't sure who they were either, but I got a phone call from a friend in Edinburgh last night saying how she'd just seen The Fratellis playing live for 20 or so people in a music shop there... now that sounds like a real gig!

anyway I urge you to check them out:
