This weekend (April 4th and 5th) I attended Over the Air 2008, which took place at Imperial College (London). This event was supossed to be the largest mobile developer ever produced. It consisted in 48 hours of mobile development organised by Mobile Monday London, hosted by Imperial College and supported by the BBC, Vodafone, Yahoo and other important companies.
On Friday there were some conferences about the most important and innovative technologies in mobile development (Series 60, MIDP 3.0, Widgets…), after that at 20:00 there was a dinner-party promoted by Yahoo, and at midnight started for most people the most interesting part of the event.
This event was called Hackday for mobile because in the schedule there was a competition which consisted in develop the best mobile application prototype in 24 hours (1pm Friday to 1pm Saturday). After that, all participants have to do a presentation about the prototype created, and after 30 minutes a jury decided the best application for each category.

I created a client/server application which tracked the location info of an user in a N95, and stored it in a database. Once some location info was collected it was posible to create a Community Location Aware small Web application using Google Maps API. More info about my prototype and the others can be found in the url Reviews, and see Social Tracker.
My application was included in the category Location Aware Applications, but I competed for the best overall application too. I had too much technical problems in the presentation (I couldn’t test the proyector connected to my laptop before), but I think I did it well. Finally I couldn’t win in that category, because other guys created a better application than mine (see Location Based Game Platform), but I won in an unofficial category called “Most likely the succeed with the CIA”. In spite of it was not what I expected, I am very proud of that.

Last weekend I was in Cerler (Huesca - Spain) practising skiing. It is one of the best winter sport resorts of the pyrenees mountains. I show some photos of that nice place:

Las week when I driving from Caspe to Zaragoza to work, I was very surprised when I saw the temperature out of the car.
As you can see it was 9:00 A.M., I had never seen before that cold tempertature in this zone of Aragon.
The good of that is that next Saturday we started the skiing season.

What are Vaquillas? It is the common name of the Teruel's annual festival. I think that it is the best in Spain! I can compare with other that I have been as San Fermines (Pamplona), Fallas (Valencia), Pilares (Zaragoza), San Lorenzo (Huesca)...
The annual festival in Teruel starts around 7 of July, being a week the duration. There are lots of performances, people, drink... But I think that the best of all is that Teruel is as a big Village, I can't consider it a city (It has around 50000 people). It make easy that there are not cars during the week in all streets in the historic city centre, being possible to put lots and lots of stages and bars in the street. All that together that Vaquillas are one of the first annual festivals in the summer, make me to think that are the best in Spain. In that thought perhaps influence that I was born in Teruel, and I have family there.

Hoy voy a comentar un poco un tema por el que bastante gente me ha preguntado, sobre todo de fuera de Aragon. Este tema no es otro que el de las VPO (Viviendas de proteccion oficial).
Las VPO son viviendas financiadas en parte por el Gobierno, central en algunos casos y autonómico en las comunidades que tengan la competencia transferida. Este es el caso de Aragon, donde la DGA promociona anualmente un gran número de viviendas de este tipo. Estas viviendas aparte de tener un precio muy asequible comparado a como al mercado inmobiliario actual, tienen la ventaja de que el propio Gobierno subvenciona al agraciado con una ayuda a la entrada (entre 7000 y 10000 euros) y pagando una parte de la hipoteca cada mes (entre 50 y 100 euros), ademas de tener otras ventajas como tipos de interes mas bajos o ausencia de algunos impuestos. Todas estas ayudas son incrementadas si se es menor de 35 años, disminuido... Hay que comentar que estas viviendas estan tambien sujetas a ciertas restricciones como limitacion de uso y venta de 10 años, no descalificación total hasta los 30 años de la compra y la obligatoriedad de ser usada como primera vivienda y residencia habitual. De esta manera se tratan de evitar las posibles especulaciones con este tipo de viviendas, destinadas a gente que realmente lo necesita. Así pues para acceder a una vivienda de este tipo solo es necesario que no se posea una renta muy muy grande (me parece que son unos 50000 euros anuales mas o menos), que se esté empadronado en algún municipio de Aragón, y que se tenga la suerte de que te toque una (lo mas dificil de todo). En Aragón hay inscritas casi 50000
personas para acceder a una vivienda de este tipo, siendo el sorteo la manera de acceder a las denominadas VPO de promoción pública. Hay que mencionar que no hay restricciones en cuanto a la zona de Aragon donde se puede solicitar, independientemente del lugar de residencia actual, o del lugar de trabajo.
Yo a finales de marzo, en un sorteo realizado en Hueca, tuve la suerte de que me tocó una, pudiendo elegir en 6ª lugar sobre una promoción de 100 pisos más o menos. Aunque parece todo muy bonito a primera vista, el caso es que estoy dudando si aceptarla o renunciar a ella, debido a que ahora mismo no estoy trabajando allí, y aunque me gustaria volver en un futuro, no se si me va a ser posible, ya que con 24 años no se sabe las vueltas que puede dar la vida... A dia de hoy, con la inminente apertura de la oficina en Zaragoza, parece que si que tendría sentido aceptar la vivienda, puesto que Huesca esta a media hora de Zaragoza por autovía, una distancia aceptable para mí, aunque siempre es mejor estar a 5 minutos del trabajo... La principal duda se me plantea si algún día decido irme a Madrid, a Barcelona o al extranjero, puesto que esa vivienda no se puede dejar vacía en un principio (las hay, pero con riesgo de ser sancionado por una inspección). La verdad es que me estoy dando cuenta que una vivienda de este tipo limita mucho la movilidad laboral de una persona, aunque desde luego tiene sus compensaciones xq tener la posibilidad de comprar un ático de 53 metros cuadrados con garage y trastero en una ciudad por 70000 euros u otro un poco mejor de 60 metros con mas de 30 metros de terrazas por 90000 euros con garage y trastero tambien es para pensarselo.
No se al final lo que haré, pero la verdad es que estas decisiones son de las difíciles y de las que hay que tomar con calma.

Yesterday I was impressed about the amount of radars that there are in Catalunya. When I came back from San Cugat to Caspe, driving in A2 which is a motorway which binds Barcelona to Madrid , at least I saw 4 fixed radars in 170 km. It is supossed that the goal of them is to avoid that drivers drive very fast, always under 120 km/hour, which is the maximum speed for a motorway in Spain.
I agree with people that says that a very high speed is dangerous, because a traffic accident can carry unfortunate consequences. I also agree that a very high amount of deaths in traffic accidents are produced by high speed. But I would like to comment that in other countries like Germany there is not speed limit in some motorways, and there are less deaths...

What could be the reason of that? I think that the speed to which a vehicle is danger depends on the vehicle, the road, the driver... , not only of the speed. So I think that is more dangerous to drive with a Seat 127 to 80 km/hour than drive with a BMW 320 to 160 km/hour. Also I think that is more dangerous to drive to 80 km/hour by a very bad road, than to 140 km/hour by a very good motorway.
On the other hand it is necessary to mention that radars only do that some drivers brake when they reach it, and when is it passed accelerate again. So for instance, you can be driving to 160 km/h almost all way, and brake just when the radar is reached, being you a potential danger the 97% of your way.
I don't know what is the real goals of authorities installing every day new radars on Spanish roads, but I am sure that one of them is to collect a very high amount of money of absent-minded drivers.
Thank goodness that I have in my PDA the radars map installed!

No se lo que ha podido pasar, pero yo cada dia alucino mas con este Barca. Despues de lo de ayer en Getafe yo me puedo esperar cualquier cosa para este final de liga. Lo mismo despliegan el mejor futbol de Europa, que caen goleados estrepitosamente ante el primer equipo que les planta cara y les hace correr.
Leyendo ayer varios diarios deportivos, tanto de Madrid como de Barcelona, el presidente del Getafe decia convencido que iban a remontar, cosa que nadie en Barcelona creía ni en la peor de sus pesadillas. Pero asi fue, un equipo como el Getafe goleando a todo un campeón de Europa, y lo peor de todo, sin darle ni una sola opcion.
Se habla del final de un ciclo debido al acomodamiento de los cracks, la falta de ambicion, las rencillas en el vestuario... Pero yo no creo que sea el final de un ciclo, sino un fallo de planificacion en una temporada donde hay que decir que el mejor equipo de España, tanto por juego como por resultados, esta siendo el Sevilla.
En fin, que dios reparta suerte, y que el Madrid pinche el Sabado (sino mal vamos).
