Pink Floyd
The core members of Pink Floyd are geniuses. They made music that was art way ahead of their time (and have hardly been topped since). If you're a fan of later Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon and after), definitely check out some of their earlier stuff. My favorite period is that time after Sid left the band and before Dark Side came out... they were doing some unbelievably great stuff which is perhaps some of the most under-appreciated work in rock, IMHO. Check out Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, and Atom Heart Mother (my favorite) so hear what I'm talking about.
