MusicStrands Does Music Search, Too
MusicStrands had results for every band I threw at it. Lots of stats, and links to buy music from amazon and iTunes. And it has excellent web 2.0 features as well, including social networking, recommendations and user tagging of music. They also have nice support options for small and indie bands, allowing them to get their music into the mix. Basically, MusicStrands is an excellent resource for finding new music. A new study scheduled to be released today suggests that consumer-to-consumer music recommendations -- a growing feature of online music stores and websites -- will benefit the industry, artists, and fans alike. Slater and his collaborator, Gartner research director Michael McGuire, predict that by 2010, 25 percent of online music store purchases will be driven by such consumer-to-consumer recommendations. Firm Pioneers Recommendations Technology
The technology is being used by MyStrands.com, which uses "social recommendation technologies" to select and propose new music based on the music a consumer is playing and has played recently. MyStrands analyzes the relation created by people between the songs, and the recommendations are based on real people's choices. [Billboard, July 23th, 2005]

Digital Music Voyage of Discovery
This new world brings freedom, but it also has created a real need for new ways of exploring and managing the dazzling array of music available from a variety of sources. Where do we go to find the music we love and discover new music that fits our taste?

A new company, MusicStrands, is stepping up to fill that need. Returning to the music lover´s point of view, its Web site, MyStrands.com, allows people to search and sample a database of 4 million songs, to create and swap playlists with other like-minded folks and to explore, discover and purchase new music based on personal taste. Playlists can be grouped into fun, user-friendly categories called "tags". [Stoel Rives LLP, Annual Review 2004]

MusicStrands uses artificial intelligence to recommend music to site visitors
At MusicStrands website (www.MyStrands.com) people share their tastes in music and then receive music recommendations. This initiative is the first and only one to use tags applied to music; tags are labels that people can attach on the music they like for easy retrieval later. Tags also make it easy to discover playlists by keying on interesting tags supplied by other users; in addition, tags can help anyone organize playlists by common features. Users of the MusicStrands website have access to a directory of 3.9 million songs. [Innovations Report, April 13th, 2005]
