Description

Musicianship is top notch... Vocal has the proper amount of menace/growl for the genre. - TAXI. Powerful guitar hooks and killer riffs to punch up their sound, while thunderous drum beats control the tempo... All of the different musical parts come together well in their songs and Elsa's vocals act as the glue holding it all together... Don't expect a copycat type sound... This band seems to have a really good chemistry that comes through in their music. - Indie Music Stop

Biography

SOUL DISTRACTION ARE : Elsa Faith - Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals Rich Cornelison - Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Backing Vocals Marty Mitchell - Acoustic Guitar, Electric Bass, Backing Vocals Think The Cult, The Cranberries & Neil Diamond combined. That is Soul Distraction’s sound. The band had undergone a lot of positive changes musically compared to how it was when it was first formed in Summer 2006. Obvious influences for Southeast Asian Elsa Faith’s cool, raspy vocals includes Dolores O’Riordon (The Cranberries), Jewel and Patsy Cline. Let us also add Marty Mitchell’s warm acoustic guitar tone, reminding us of Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum) mixed with Neil Diamond. How about including Rich Cornelison’s crisp electric guitar sound ala Jimi Hendrix and Billy Duffy (The Cult) in this ingredient? Tada! You’ve got Soul Distraction. Throughout 2006 and 2007, Soul Distraction had opened up for national acts such as Genitorturers, Mankind Is Obsolete and international act Mortiis. They have toured in some western US states like hometown Washington, Oregon, California (playing at the legendary Whisky A-Go-Go) and also Nevada. They had also self-released their debut full length, The Truth Pill in June 2007. It is getting substantial radio airplay on college stations, internet stations and was also played in Singapore’s top radio station, 98.7 FM. What pulls the audiences to their shows, apart from their down-to-earth personalities off-stage, would be their sincerity in their lyrics and clarity in the sound of their performances. At the same time, they could get everyone dancing, rocking and chanting to their originals, even though it’s their first time listening to their tunes. Soul Distraction works hard to bring back the soul in rock n roll.
