Biography
An impassioned bluesy singer-guitarist, and keyboard man, Tomy Gunn, aka: Shadawmon (pronounced jah_da_ma) has enjoyed writing & playing music in just about every venue one can imagine. From his very early roots in San Diego’s surf music scene – he scored the original soundtrack for a local film titled, ‘Seaweed Sandwich’ shot in Mission Beach, La Jolla, and OB in San Diego. He was already a notable bluesy guitarist-singer and opening act in the San Diego underground club and concert scene for artists like Gabor Szabo, Osa Bisa, the Sanctuary Band, and Mark Almond with his group called Crossfire. He relocated to LA and was immediately hired on to go to Kingston to record and tour with reggae pop artist Johnny Nash on Bob Marley songs, ('I Can See Clearly Now', 'Stir It Up', 'Guava Jelly', etc). Shadawmon went on to work with various reggae, island, blues, jazz, & funk fusion players and artists including Trinidad's Chile Charles & Robbie Greenige, Spyder Webb, Carol Kaye, and Tony Basil’s Lockers dance group among many others. This eventually landed gigs in Hawaii with artists Willy K, Fiji, Harold 'dawg' Kama Jr., and Kahikina. Shadawmon has since teamed up his own 'dao boyz' and ventured further into Pacific Asia exploring world and eastern influenced music like north Thailand's (Thai/Lau) Lukthung, Issan music. Having performed a full circle of gigs including network TV shows and concert tours with major & minor recording artists, this relatively unknown earned top 100 Billboard song credits along the way, and wrote & produced for TV/film soundtracks gleaning a 1989 Emmy Nomination. Shadawmon, now an emerging world class indie artist - He is currently in south Thailand finishing up a second solo release in the rock alternative/island jawaiian fusion genres with a little help from his ‘dao boyz’ group.
