It's pretty close to impossible to go wrong with any {$Curtis Mayfield} collection, but to call this one definitive is stretching things quite a bit. True, it has the three big {\pop}-{\funk} hits from 1972's {^Superfly} ({&"Pusherman,"} {&"Freddie's Dead,"} and the title tune), plus the beautiful and brilliant love song {&"So in Love"} from 1975, but it lacks anything from {$Mayfield}'s {$Impressions} years, a time when his writing and singing were every bit as impressive, and maybe even more so. Again, any {$Curtis Mayfield} is better than no {$Curtis Mayfield}, but don't fool yourself into thinking that this is all there is to the story. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
