What I always wanted to post but somehow never found time to do it

~ January 5, 2007 at 3:35 (Views: 56 )

When Xmas break was approaching I thought: "this is my big opportunity to blog everything I had in mind the last few weeks but never found time to do it". Well the Xmas break is gone and I blogged nothing. So I wonder how so much blogging can be going on out there. Perhaps regular bloggers are people who really haven't nothing better to do... or perhaps they don't have a job, or don't have too many friends to talk to, or a family to enjoy, or no hobbies, etc Anyway, as always I made several resolutions for the New Year: running a half marathon under 1h20m (last year I tried but got injured before even I managed to be in good shape), winning the netflix contest (i haven't programmed in a while), and blogging in MyStrands everyday. The thing is that today is the 4th day of the year. I have run every single day (even if I had a fever the past few days, it was raining, etc). I have been polishing my perl algorithm for netflix and processed more than 200,000 users' ratings so far (even if i have been very busy). However I haven't posted anything yet. The reason is clear: I have my special motivational music for running (running tonight) and my special motivational music for programming (flamenqueo) but I haven't found yet any special motivational music for blogging. So I wonder whether there is anybody out there who can give me some good recommendations on what good music for blogging looks like.

Perhaps a good track for this purpose could be: Sweet Victory on SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Album .

This House is a House of Trouble

~ October 31, 2006 at 6:39 (Views: 209 )

This house is house of trouble by Sally Timms is one of the best pieces of the 80s... I rediscovered it in my own collection thanks to mystrands...

This House Is A House Of Trouble

This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year
This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year

I gave you love (you gave me a necklace of diamonds)
I gave you love (you gave me a Mercedes Benz)
I gave you love (you gave me anything but love, love, love)

Well I thought I loved a hero, but it seems I loved a fool
(Gee thanks)
Too many times I've seen you falling drunken off your stool
I've seen you looking small on the floor of some dark bar
Spending all your money like the vagabond you are
You promised me a heaven but you stuck me in a hell
You're lazy and you're indiscreet and bad in bed as well
(Well, I've had no complaints before)
Lipstick where I've never seen lipstick marks before
Out each night to play the field and me I'm locked behind this door

This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year
This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year

I gave you love (you gave me lies and deception)
I gave you love (you gave me an overdraft)
I gave you love (you gave me anything but love, love, love)
I gave you love (you gave me the cold shoulder)
I gave you love (you gave me an icy stare)
I gave you love (you gave me anything but love, love, love)

I thought I married elegance
(You did)
But it seems I married cheap
Seems you've found some doubtful ways to boost your weekly keep
I've seen you draped in furs, but they're as fake as can be
They go with your complexion and your personality
When things start to get bad, your hand up to your head
Making for the tranquillisers, or some boy to your bed
(Ha! You can talk!)
Behaving ways I've never seen a lady act before
Out each night to play the field, and me I'm locked behind my door

I gave you love (you gave me an elegant prison)
I gave you love (you gave me a washing-machine)
I gave you love (you gave me anything but love, love, love)
I gave you love (you gave me nothing)
I gave you love (you gave me nothing)
I gave you love (you gave me anything but love, love, love)

This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year
This house is a house of troubles, this house is a house of tears
The walls shake in desperation, it's been a prison for many a year

My first football game experience: Trojans vs. Beavers at Reser Stadium

~ October 29, 2006 at 5:03 (Views: 141 )

Today, after almost 4 years living in the States, I managed to go to my first football game. The experience couldn't be better. I have been in many soccer games in Europe and I couldn't avoid to make comparisons.

Gezi and aldamiz showed me their experience and ability to get tickets for this kind of games "just-in-time". We got very good seats just in the place reserved for the visiting team---the University of South California Trojans. I was wearing my Beavers pullover and was surrounded by Trojans. What in Europe had been a very dangerous situation here was a very friendly one. We even shared pizza with some of the Trojans.

A picture is worth a thousand words to describe another advantage of our seats.

Gezi knows all the rules so it was easier to understand certain situations. I never thought that in a football team was involved so many people.

The game was incredible and the Beavers managed to beat the Trojans 33-31. What it seems doesn't happen so often.

Oregon State's fans celebrated wildly and descended onto the field in droves 2 times before the match was over. I thought this only happened in Europe.

I have just read here that

this was the highest-ranked opponent the Beavers had defeated since their win in 1967, when the Trojans were No. 1

So I suppose that was a good reason to run into the field.
What I don't understand is why the security staff and police were so protective with the goal posts. Perhaps to avoid what happens in Europe in these situations?

Even in the most screaming, stomping, clapping and shouting atmosphere there are people with the power of concentrating to follow the Spanish tradition of a little siesta after a bite to eat.

I love the scene in which Michael Moore uses this theme Bad Boys (Theme From Cops).

Abre la Puerta by Triana

Abre La Puerta by Triana

Yo quise subir al cielo para ver
y bajar hasta el infierno para comprender
qué motivo es
que nos impide ver
dentro de ti
dentro de ti
dentro de mí...

Abre la puerta niña
que el día va a comenzar
se marchan todos los sueños
qué pena da despertar.

Por la mañana amanece
la vida y una ilusión
deseos que se retuercen
muy dentro del corazón.
Soñaba que te quería
soñaba que era de verdad
que los luceros tenían
misterio para soñar.

Hay una fuente niña
que la llaman del amor
donde bailan los luceros
y la luna con el Sol.

Abre la puerta niña
y dale paso a la luz
mira que destello tiene
esa nube con el Sol.

Por la mañana amanece
la vida y una ilusión
deseos que se retuercen
muy dentro del corazón.

Hay una fuente niña
que la llaman del amor
donde bailan los luceros
y la luna con el Sol.
