Na Mele marathon
Starting on Sunday, 5/27/2007, I'll be playing the music of Hawai'i for this week. Why not "Hawaiian music"? Not every Hawaii musician composes/performs music in the Hawaiian language, so I'm including Na Leo Pilimehana, The Hawaiian Style Band, and others. Casual music listeners think of "Don Ho" and "Israel Kamakawiwo'ole" when "Hawaiian music" is mentioned. Don and IZ represent two thin slices of the Hawaii music scene, and this week they will be joined by Hoku Zuttermeister, Pilioha, Raiatea Helm, and 'A'lea. This session is leading up to the Na Hoku Hanohano awards, coming up next month.
