Songwriter Vern has two entries..

I just figured it out. Vern Batty has two entries on Music Strands! I don't get it, one has information, one doesn't. you have to enter Vern Batty ('04), what's the deal with that??
I was floored by the song Innocence from the A Wink Is As Good As A Nod CD. It's just what's happening in Africa now. I had to follow this link CDBaby.com to hear his songs. He has some songs posted on Soundclick.com, too. He reminds me sometimes of Neil Young. I love Neil Young.

Ability to tell a story well

Vern Batty has the ability to write lyrics that tell living stories and he delivers them well with (mainly) acoustic instruments and his voice. He has a characteristic and smooth voice that lends credence to the stories he tells. I enjoy the song Buttermilk Moon for it's resemblence to 30's or 40's popular music. Mountain Man induced vivid images of the life of a horseman on his homestead. His styles on the album Waiting For Daybreak range from Western ballad and acoustic folk to slide blues (No More) and instrumental. I know this album will not get old on me.
