Post Punk Kitchen

~ January 26, 2007 at 21:26 (Views: 1369 )

These chicks put the "V" in vegan!

The Post Punk Kitchen will kick the Food Network's ass. That is our mission. That is why we exist. Uh, no not really, that's just incidental I guess. The Post Punk Kitchen is about happiness and fluffy white bunnies and running through the daisy fields barefoot, throwing tofu at passers-by and sprinkling all the earth's creatures with magical nutritional yeast. OK, well maybe our manifesto is not yet complete, luckily writing copy for websites is not all we do, we also cook! And film it. For you, our wonderful audience! So stop reading and start watching and then start cooking and then kick Emerill's ass and run through the fields!

It Was 40 Years Ago Today ...

... in 1967, The Daily Mail ran the story about a local council survey finding 4,000 holes in the road in Lancashire inspiring John Lennon's contribution to The Beatles song Day In The Life, A.

Prince of the Golden Globes

~ January 17, 2007 at 23:44 (Views: 1459 )

Despite my cold stone lock prediction of the song from Dreamgirls taking home the Golden Globes award for "Best Original Song - Motion Picture", the winner was Prince for:

"The Song Of The Heart" – Happy Feet
Music & Lyrics By: Prince Rogers Nelson

The losers were:

"A Father's Way" – The Pursuit Of Happyness
Music By: Seal and Christopher Bruce
Lyrics By: Seal

"Listen" – Dreamgirls
Music & Lyrics By: Henry Krieger, Anne Preven, Scott Cutler and Beyoncé Knowles

"Never Gonna Break My Faith" – Bobby
Music & Lyrics By: Eliot Kennedy, Andrea Remanda and Bryan Adams

"Try Not To Remember" – Home Of The Brave
Music & Lyrics By: Sheryl Crow

How iMet My Neighbor on iTunes

Great story on NPR this morning about a guy who was using iTunes at his house and someone else's iTunes folder pops up! You can listen to it here:

Morning Edition, January 12, 2007 · One night, NPR reporter David Kestenbaum was listening to music on iTunes. And he was bored with his playlist. Then he noticed something strange — a mysterious folder called "Anna's Music" had popped up his screen. He'd never seen it before.

And the weird thing is, when he went to listen to the music, it was just like his. Everything he had, she had: Beck, the White Stripes, Beth Orton... It was as if he'd found his musical soulmate.

Who is Anna and how did her songs end up on Kestenbaum's computer?

Lennon or McCartney: Who Wrote That?

~ January 13, 2007 at 2:57 (Views: 972 )

From the Across the Universe site, dedicated to The Beatles:

Being that the Beatles were a four-piece band, and eventually ALL of the members wrote the songs, it can be confusing for some listeners to know which Beatle's songwriting is preferred. I have compiled a list to the best of my knowledge of who wrote what song, but there are a few disputes, which I'll note. Also, if a song is not included, then it is not written by a Beatle, and you can find out who wrote that song by viewing the albums page, finding the album the song is on, view the track listing and see who wrote it. Collaboration songs will be noted here as well, but only the ones that were a "true" collaboration. Most of the songs have input from more than one member at some point, but I'll list who the dominant writer was.
